Valentine’s Day is around the corner and according to the National Confectioners Association in Santa Barbara, California each year particulary over this period Americans spend over $1.1 billion on candy, 75% of which is chocolate.

So what’s the deal with chocolate? Most women say they love it, some even claim it’s better than sex. Not really something men would state I guess, or at least not so openly. A brief research conducted by Dr. Andrew Scott, a student at UCL London reveals that it’s suspected phenylethylamine which is one of the compounds found in cocoa causes an emotional high similar to being in love. It stimulates the nervous system and increases the heart rate and blood pressure.

A chemical also known to be released in the brain when eating chocolate is serotonin, which gives a sense of well-being. Chocolate also helps women relieve stress and get in a romantic mood, which normally results in more sensual and passionate sex.

So should chocolate be classified as a drug or food? and is it just women who posses this craving?

Personally I believe it is neither of the two, and in spite of what some people claim it is in no way addictive. It’s the combination of sugar and fat which makes the flavor of chocolate so desirable not the compounds it contains.

Similarly men crave for sugar and fat occasionally. Perhaps not as often as women who due to their menstrual cycle end up with a frequent hormone imbalance, this creates the famous mood swings and that is when the craving reaches its peak. Most men wouldn’t admit that they sometimes crave chocolate as well, the reason is that it can be interpreted as a weakness, which is obviously something men desperately attempt to obscure.

There’s clearly something sensual about chocolate, probably the fact that it melts at just above body temperature. However, next time your date, boyfriend or husband offers you chocolate know that there could very well be an underlying reason.

Farang C has bought Maiyuu a gift to say sorry for the drama he has caused over the last few weeks.

My farang friend is going out with a Thai girl whose former boyfriend, a local ruffian called Ton, wants her back - or it at least intent on making her life as much of a misery as possible.

Ton and farang C have yet to meet, and I am only tenuously connected to this tug-of-love drama.

Ton calls asking me to pass messages to his former girlfriend.

When she refuses to talk to him, he sends me text messages threatening to do me or Maiyuu harm.

I met Ton a few weeks ago at my condo complex. Farang C lives at the same condo as me, but in a different building.

He demanded that I show him inside my place, as he suspected I was hiding his girlfriend on farang C's behalf.

'We lead a gay lifestyle...you won't find any women here,' I told him.

He wasn't convinced. 'Why do you live with a gay, anyway?' he asked sulkily, scratching his groin as we made our way up in the lift.

Reluctantly, I showed him inside.

Maiyuu was unhappy to see Ton at the door. I had no chance to warn Maiyuu that I was 'inviting' in Ton for a quick look around.

Ton entered without bothering to introduce himself.

Maiyuu knew Ton as the pest who had been trying to track down his former girlfriend, but the two had never met.

'I know you are attracted to him...what's going on?' Maiyuu asked me, as Ton started opening doors and looking in hideaway places.

'He insisted I bring him here,' I explained.

As Ton let himself into our bedrooms, even searched in wardrobes, plain-spoken Maiyuu, who is scared of no one, sniped at our unwelcome guest.

'Just who do you think you are, barging into someone else's place?' he asked.

'Take your problems somewhere else!'

Ton looked embarrassed, and mumbled an apology, but didn't let that deter him.

Maiyuu followed him around as he went from room to room.

When Ton yanked opened a shoe cupboard (surprise!), he said caustically:

'You really think you'll find anyone big enough to fit in there?'

Five minutes later, Ton left, satisfied that I wasn't giving shelter to his girlfriend in the shoe cupboard or anywhere else.

I spent the next half hour apologising to Maiyuu for the intrusion, and insisting I really didn't find Ton that attractive.

'I let him in under duress,' I said limply.

Farang C is sorry for the upset he has caused.

The other day, he bought Maiyuu a bottle of gin by way of making amends.

I don't know why we settled on this particular tipple, as Maiyuu hardly ever drinks it.

However, he has promised to do something special with it. I will bring you a picture tomorrow.

Wow, so everyone is talking about their favourite artist ay? Hmm *thinks awhile* .. I don't really have a "favourite" singer, I guess - trust me I'll just listen to anything that fancies me. Well think really depressing songs, really really depressing and that's my type, kinda saddening isn't it haha. Owells.

Anyways, I guess if my husband sings as well I'll probably be addicted to him. Oooooo, by this time some of yall must be thinking - wait, Bau is married? - fear not, husband is probably just a fantasy dream for fan girl like me. Haha. Group SS501 will use Japan as the start to steps onto the roads of marching into the Southeast Asia markets.

For the month of August, SS501 will continue advancement activities starting in Malaysia to Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and other Southeast Asia countries.

SS501's company DSP Entertainment personnel said, "During this time, our overseas activities have in Japan as the main market. But recently we plan to start official activities in Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other places. A majority of the preparations of the activities have already been completed."

In May, SS501 has held fanmeeting actvities in Thailand. At that time, the SS501 fanmeet gathered 15,000 fans. SS501's company hope to scale new heights of success in Southwest Asia. DSP has separately made plans for Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other places.

SS501 will seize hold of Thailand and Malaysia at the start of their activities in Southeast Asia. Yesterday marked the 2nd anniversary of this blog - I know because I wrote the first one right after the Big Gay Out two years ago. That's a lot of writing since then. Aren't you lucky ?

As for the Big Gay Out yesterday - it was fantastic. It's such a lovely way to spend an afternoon, hanging out with all sorts of people from the queer communities. It is great to see thousands and thousands of us in one spot. As it's a summer's afternoon, it's always pretty chilled, people just cruising away, gay mums and dads with their kids, people catching up with friends, having a few beers, others moving downwind from the Police when necessary. Thank you to the friends' picnic I crashed - you're great guys, nice Pinot Gris, and i loved the salami. To make up I drove them home and they drank all my beer on my back porch as the sun went down.

The BGO is the last relic of Hero, and it really holds to some of the original Hero feeling and messages. Ideas like being proud of being queer, not needing to apologise or hide, and of being a community, no matter how loosely knit that collection of communities is today. An event like BGO shows that however weak some of the links are, we are still connected.

And that explains the swarm of locusts in the shape of politicians who descend on us now each year. Is that unfair? Perhaps a little - some have a long track-record of supporting us. It was great to see openly gay Green MP Kevin Hague there. He has been a solid and constructive force in making the lives of queer people and those with HIV better for decades. Seeing Grant Robertson and Maryann Street out with the Labour leaders is good too. Others are just opportunists out to make us think they like us and grab our votes.

The Prime Minister fits into the second category. It's slightly nauseating watching the way so many homos fawn over him.

Remember: He did not support the Civil Unions Legislation. He doesn't support same-sex couples being able to adopt children. So he is nice and smiley around us, he's very good at how he presents himself, but he still sees us as not deserving of the full rights of other New Zealand citizens. In John Key's eyes we are not worthy to be parents, and our relationships are not of equal value to heterosexual ones. There is no other way to read his actions.

Yet our Uncle Toms fall over themselves to be seen with him and get their photo taken. Power is in itself an attractive thing I guess. But this man has not been our friend. Look at National - I think it's the last party to have closeted MPs sitting in it. Think of how self-hating you must be to live half a life, stuck in the closet because you think being open about being a homo would ruin your political career. But that's the National Party for you.

Then there is all the talk of a new Auckland "Mardi Gras", spilling from, the lips of Auckland Central National MP Nikki Kaye. She's a nice woman, what I've seen of her I like. She's on the more liberal end of the Nationals too, but I don't see any real support or understanding of gay issues from her, even though there are a lot of us in her electorate.

Her first comments about a Mardi Gras were about how much money it could bring into the city - then after dissenting voices arose she hastily followed up by vague murmuring about "community". Hero, when it worked, had deep roots into all sorts of areas in gay Auckland, it had community buy-in on a big scale. As it weakened it came to rely more and more on corporate sponsorship, on being more business-like and less of a community event, and it failed, got boring, and imploded.

Perhaps all this talk will bring us some sort new bigger gay festival, I like the idea. But if it's not based in our world, if it's not based in our extraordinarily rich, messy and varied networks of community, it will fail.

But yesterday showed what we can do, who we are and why it matters to be out and proud and seen. If someone can tap into that sort of spirit, then I'll be a supporter. If it's some sanitised corporate affair, forget it.

One reason to watch Sweet Rain - enough for me to watch
I'm not a big fan of Japanese movies. The ones I end up watching, I wasn't impress with. However, with an exception of two - Be With You and Love Letter
Ever since I saw Takeshi in House of Flying Daggers, I've always found him very attracted. But now, he's taking it to another level of hotness. He can act and sing.

Takeishi plays a grim reaper who gives the thumbs up or down if that person is going to die. But when encountering with the humans, he disguises himself as a human too.

Manami Konishi plays a very timid girl who thinks she doesn't deserve to live because everyone she loves ends up dead.

There were no romantic chemistry between the two but they worked well together.

I am an animal fan! So seeing the black lab was a plus. I always wanted a black lab. He is Takeshi's side-kick who guides him.

The movie is definitely a must watch! Not only for Takeshi fans but for the storyline.

Lets say there are around 1000 consulting firms it the worst case there may be around 1500 firms which have a capacity to apply 15 H1B each.

still the number would come around 15000 to 30000 but the big 4 companies in India got 20,000 H1B last year, which means they might have applied around 45000 to 55,000 applications

my numbers may be bit off but i think Big 4 companies from India are doing more damage then consulting firms in US.

the two reasons why you would want to enroll in COBRA are:

1. insuring yourself and family for the one month or so. without insurance, everything is expensive.
2. PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. If you are without insurance for some time period that time period is deducted from the typical 6 month or so waiting period of coverage of pre-existing conditions. But I think even in this case there is some grace period of 30-60 days. I suspect if you were covered 30-60 days prior to start of coverage by an employer sponsored plan, then the waiting period is waived. but you need to read the fine print for this.

I am joining new job using AC21 provision coming monday. My new employer does not provide medical insurance for the first month. I am eligible for after I complete 1 month.

So my question is: till the time I get medical coverage from new employer (approx. 20 - 30 days), can I invoke COBRA? I heard that one can not invoke COBRA if he or she is employed (only meant for un-employement) is this true?

Also, should I call my current insurance company for COBRA now, or I can wait if I really need to visit a doctor? is there a grace period for this? Because there is a possiblity that I may never would have to visit a doctor for next 20-30 days, but who knows!

Just imagine what will happen to the market flooded with EADs. Job market for H1Bs will totally be down. No US companies will hire H1Bs if they get somebody with an EAD. Tonnes of Junior developers and S/W testers will in the market driving the billing rates down even further. It's better to pack up and leave. I have heard from one of the forums here that an estimated 500K people will file this month since all PDs are current. EB-3 mexico + phillipines togther alone will be close to 300K. God help the Job market.

Also minimum wait time will be 500K/140K ~ 4 yrs before they get to process your GC. Add to that the time for namecheck backlog 2+ yrs. So total 6+ yrs before getting GC........

Isnt that how a market is supposed to work - on the laws of demand and supply. For every consequence there is always an unintended one. And if enought local wokers (EAD, others) are available then the laws of the market would require an automatic reduction in the number of H1b's.
